Qualifications and Responsibilities Hold an earned Master of Social Work degree or its equivalent or higher from an accredited college or university recognized by the Council for Higher Education (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education (USDE); and Hold a current Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate from the Michigan Department of Education; and Hold a valid Limited Master Social Worker License (LLMSW) or valid Master Social Worker License (LMSW) issued by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Experience in school social work preferred Knowledge of State of Michigan and Federal Rules and Regulations regarding Special Education and Section 504 including special education eligibility process/evaluations and individualized education program (IEP) planning Knowledge of seclusion and restraint procedures, emergency intervention plans and crisis de‑escalation Ability to collaborate with staff in planning education intervention and behavior management Proactive in supporting general education students, special education students, and staff Demonstrated high level of enthusiasm and willingness to share with others Experience leading functional behavior assessments and positive support planning for individual students Trauma‑informed care experience preferred Coordinate or serve as a member of evaluation teams, child study, and other teams coordinating the support of educational planning and student success Administer appropriate assessments (BASC, BERS, SEARs, Connors, etc.), interpret results, and provide implications and recommendations Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment of trust and a common instructional focus Evidence of high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in personal and professional matters Ongoing communication and collaboration with families on student progress Knowledge of community resources and ability to serve as a liaison between school, parents, students, and outside resources Reports To: Principals and Director of Special Education Start Date: 8/14/2026 Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications ($54,138 minimum) Position Type: Full-Time Equal Opportunity Employer Cedar Springs Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including sexual orientation and transgender identity), disability, age, height, weight, marital or family status, religion, military status ancestry, genetic information or any other legally protected category (collectively, "Protected Classes"), in its programs and activities, including employment opportunities.
