Job Description

The Balloon Forming Operator supports the manufacturing of medical device components by operating balloon forming equipment in a cleanroom environment. This role focuses on producing high-quality balloon components from polymer tubing by following detailed procedures, maintaining process control, and ensuring strict compliance with quality and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate balloon forming equipment to shape polymer tubing into finished balloon components according to established specifications and procedures.
• Load raw materials into machines and monitor forming cycles, including temperature, pressure, and timing parameters, to ensure consistent product quality.
• Inspect formed balloons for defects such as irregular shapes, wall thickness issues, or surface imperfections and take appropriate action when issues are identified.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment and processes and promptly notify supervision of any issues that may affect safety, quality, or production output.
• Follow detailed work instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality guidelines to maintain compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
• Accurately complete production documentation, traceability records, and logs to ensure proper recordkeeping and product history.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with cleanroom and manufacturing requirements.
• Support equipment setup, changeovers, and minor adjustments to maintain efficient production flow and minimize downtime.
• Handle materials and components carefully to prevent contamination, damage, or mix-ups, following cleanroom handling procedures.
• Collaborate closely with team members, as well as quality and engineering teams, to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform repetitive assembly and production tasks with precision and consistency while meeting daily production targets.
• Carry out data entry related to production activities, ensuring accuracy in documentation and system records.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and process documentation accurately.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate production and manufacturing equipment.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting products and completing documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a cleanroom manufacturing environment with strict cleanliness and handling procedures.
• Comfort performing assembly, production, and assembly line tasks in a process-driven environment.
• Ability to complete documentation and data entry accurately and consistently.
• Capability to perform general production operations, including machine operation and material handling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in medical device manufacturing or other cleanroom manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with inspection tools such as microscopes, gauges, or other measurement devices.
• Exposure to manufacturing equipment and process-driven production environments.
• Demonstrated ability to focus on product quality, consistency, and compliance with procedures and documentation requirements.
• Experience working toward daily production targets in a high-precision environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, new, and climate-controlled cleanroom facility that requires adherence to regulated GMP standards and strict cleanliness procedures. Team members perform repetitive, high-precision tasks while standing or sitting for extended periods. Hair and beard nets are required as part of the cleanroom attire, and careful handling of materials and components is essential to maintain product quality and prevent contamination.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chattanooga, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $19.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
