Our team is solving the world’s toughest security challenges for customers with “can’t fail” missions.Leidos Low Band System (LBS) program is seeking a talented Hydraulic and Mechanical Lead Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and test of hydraulic components and systems. LBS is a large, multi-phase radar program with concurrent development, test, production, and sustainment activities.As a member of the design team, you will be responsible for supporting and leading design, integration, and testing of components (hydraulic power units, cylinders, manifolds, piping, hoses, and controls) and hydraulic systems on both the transportable single panel demonstrator and a large stationary antenna array. This person will be responsible for hydraulic system architecture, component and system trades, bill of material development, specifications, 3D CAD modeling of hydraulic components and supporting structure, fabrication and integration drawings, hydraulic test planning and procedures, and hands-on integration and test support. Additionally, the hydraulic subsystem lead engineer may support mechanical and thermal system tasks as needed.This role requires a seasoned technical contributor and leader, proficient in applying technical principles, theories, and concepts in hydraulics engineering, thermal management, structural design, and technical leadership. You will be responsible for developing and proving out solutions to technical problems and issues that may be difficult or unclear while collaborating with other members of the design, hydraulic, structural, and thermal analysis teams. This person must take ownership of the hydraulic system including meeting technical requirements, adhering to aggressive schedules, and supporting project cost objectives.This is not your average engineering position. This is a fast-paced program with unique technical challenges that will be a rewarding milestone in any engineering career.If you are up for the challenge of joining this team, then apply today to be considered!Primary ResponsibilitiesLead hydraulic engineering tasks including the design, analysis, manufacture, integration, and test of hydraulic components and subsystemsSupport and perform technical trade studies, develop hydraulic system architectureApply sound engineering practices to develop concepts using CAD and mature designs that meet system requirementsSupport technical peer, table-top, and internal/external design reviewsCreate and maintain Technical Data Package (TDP) artifacts, including CAD models, drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, test procedures and reportsCommunicate and collaborate effectively with design, analysis, fabrication, test, and program management teams to resolve challenges and complete tasks on scheduleBasic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited universityBS + 4 years progressive hydraulics engineering experience or MS + 2 yearsProficient with either Solidworks or CreoExperience with drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5Basic understanding and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysisStrong attention-to-detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsSelf-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environmentsProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)US Citizenship requiredActive DoD security clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintainPreferred QualificationsIn addition to hydraulic design, experience in either structural design or structural analysisExperience with weapon systems, military hardware, erector systems, and/or industrial/construction/mining/agriculture equipmentBasic understanding or experience with radars or other advanced sensing technologiesTechnical team leadershipExperience with large steel structures including welded structures and bolted assembliesExperience with fluid flow systems and/or thermal systemsExperience with technical data and documentation release and management in WindchillExperience supporting rapid development, prototyping, or fast-paced engineering programsKnowledge of MIL-STD-31000 Technical Data Package (TDP) developmentActive DoD security clearanceIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
