Health Unit Coordinator / Monitor Tech Position Type: Full-Time Equivalent (0.8) Schedule: Nights only, 8‑hour shifts, with uneven weekend and holiday rotation starting at 11:00 PM. Salary: $18.48+ per hour. Weekly Hours: 32 hours. Key Responsibilities The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) coordinates communication between nursing staff, physicians, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families regarding patient care. The HUC facilitates unit operations by managing desk area, using technology, monitoring and communicating bed status, and coordinating downtime procedures. The HUC uses Epic to facilitate patient care orders and serves as an Epic resource to physicians and nursing staff. The Monitor Tech (MT) continually observes and recognizes normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms. The MT accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and continuously monitors them via hospital monitors. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of two or four hour cardiac rhythm interpretation classes during orientation. A rhythm interpretation competency must be successfully completed within the initial 90‑day orientation. Keyboard skills required. Principles of effective communication. Knowledge of data entry system. Effective organizational skills and time management. Must complete orientation and demonstrate competency in both roles prior to the end of the 90‑day probation period. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in an acute care setting. Prior experience as a Health Unit Coordinator or Monitor Technician (helpful but not required). Medical terminology knowledge. Availability for the first week of employment for HUC orientation that takes place Monday‑Friday 8 AM – 4:30 PM.
