Assistant Store Manager

New Mexico Piñon Coffee is looking for a dependable, positive, and motivated Team Lead to help guide our café team and create an exceptional experience for every customer. The Team Lead supports the Store Manager with daily café operations and serves as the key leader when the Store Manager is unavailable. This position is ideal for someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, takes ownership, and enjoys helping others succeed. What You’ll Do Deliver outstanding service with a consistent customer-first approach. Help lead the café team and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment. Open and close the café, complete cash-handling responsibilities, and follow all keyholder procedures. Support the onboarding and training of new employees. Communicate company promotions, operational updates, and procedural changes to the team. Assist with inventory counts, product ordering, deliveries, stock rotation, and waste reduction. Notify the Store Manager of product outages, supply concerns, staffing needs, or employee-relations issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe café that meets company and food-safety standards. Help ensure the café is adequately staffed, including covering shifts when needed. Represent New Mexico Piñon Coffee with honesty, integrity, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and café. What We’re Looking For Customer service, food service, or beverage preparation experience is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A reliable, adaptable, and self-motivated approach to work. The ability to lead by example and work effectively without direct supervision. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to operational consistency. A willingness to coach, support, and encourage team members. Dependable attendance and schedule flexibility. A valid Food Handler Card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional urgent operational needs. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift more than 20 pounds. Ability to work in a fast-paced café environment with periods of high customer volume, heat, and noise. Ability to use computers, mobile devices, café equipment, and drive-thru headsets as required.
