Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Novant Health seeks a Registered Nurse – Operating Room to deliver safe, compassionate perioperative care across our advanced surgical suites. The OR RN will circulate and, as applicable, scrub for diverse procedures, coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesia, and techs, and ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique, safety protocols, and regulatory standards. This role emphasizes patient advocacy, timely documentation, and effective communication with patients and families. Responsibilities Provide perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures Circulate and/or scrub for a variety of surgical specialties following aseptic technique Assess, monitor, and document patient status and responses to interventions Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical technologists to ensure safe, efficient procedures Prepare, verify, and manage surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies Maintain strict infection prevention, safety, and regulatory compliance standards Educate and support patients and families regarding procedures and postoperative care Respond promptly to emergencies, changes in patient condition, and critical events Participate in quality improvement, performance metrics, and evidence-based practice initiatives Support a culture of diversity, safety, and continuous professional development Core Competencies Perioperative nursing Intraoperative patient monitoring Circulating nurse skills Scrub nurse skills Aseptic and sterile technique Surgical instrumentation and equipment use Medication administration and IV therapy Patient assessment and critical thinking Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Infection prevention and control Qualifications Current RN license (state of practice) BLS required ACLS preferred CNOR certification preferred PALS preferred (pediatrics cases) Benefits Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k #J-18808-Ljbffr
