Roles & Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for daily care of all surgical patients, assisting doctors and veterinary technicians with pre-, peri- and post-operative care of patients, general cleaning, and maintaining a sterile work environment. Observing patients for signs of distress and following safety protocols when handling animals. Responsible for maintaining proper disease control protocols, preparation of surgical packs, laundry, and general stocking of cleaning & medical supplies.

 

Must be able to learn basic veterinary medical concepts, including but not limited to vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks. Will be asked to take medical histories and input information into our software. Will be asked to communicate basic veterinary concepts to owners and be able to repeat information relayed by a veterinarian at check in and check out. Will need to communicate professionally with our rescue partners, animal shelter staff, board members and public clients.

 

Will answer clinic phones, return messages, respond to emails. Take payments and assist customers at check- in and check- out. Will need to become proficient with our software, Clinic HQ.

Ensures complete and accurate records exist for all patients, including rabies certificates, go-home paperwork, and medical records.

This job may require standing or sitting for 8hrs or more per day, lifting more than 50lbs and handling fractious animals.

Must be willing to assist with other duties as needed or required to keep our clinic clean and safe for the animals under our care.

This position requires flexibility to move from office tasks to animal care throughout the day. The person in this role must be willing to take directions from the supervising Veterinarian and office Administrator. Working at a high volume spay/neuter clinic can be mentally & physically demanding. Must be able to respond quickly to a variety of medical situations (with training). It is important that you must be willing to work independently and with a team!
