Job Title The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Maintenance Manager - HVAC, Electronics, & Mechanical. Works under close supervision according to set procedures but determines how and when tasks are completed. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires four years of general maintenance or closely related experience, including one year of lead or supervisory experience. Special Certifications and Licenses Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver’s License and other relevant licenses based on the area of assignment. Preferences Associate’s Degree or higher in a relevant field Advanced license or certification in one or more airport‑related skilled trades (Refrigeration Mechanic, Carpenter, Electrician, Electronics Technician, Plumber, Maintenance Mechanic, or Painter) Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) Two or more years of Maximo/Work Order System experience Two or more years of airport facility maintenance experience Two or more years of Airfield Part 139 inspection experience Additional Requirements Ability to obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area access with Customs and Border Protection seal. Ability to obtain and maintain airfield driving privileges. Ability to obtain and maintain airfield non‑movement area driving privileges. Must be able to perform rotational shift work and/or overtime (holidays, weekends, emergencies) in support of operational needs in a 24‑hour per day / 7 days per week operation and in accordance with any collective bargaining agreement, if applicable. Must be able to interact courteously with the public, airport vendors, contractors, and fellow employees to maintain a professional work environment. Must be able to work in various locations and environments, including office, warehouse, airport terminals, and the airfield. Aviation Maintenance Division staff may be required to work in environments with weather, humidity, smoke, fumes, dust, tight or confined spaces, hazardous materials, or equipment that shakes, rocks, or vibrates, and loud noise. Duties and Responsibilities Directs and manages work projects and personnel, schedules and assigns work for maintenance staff, and follows up throughout the day to ensure each assignment is complete. Coordinates with other County employees working on projects or work orders, and oversees all job functions to ensure safe working standards and assigned facility. Composes and responds to emails, files work orders electronically, monitors and tracks employee records, attendance, sick leave, and annual leave; enters all daily log sheets and related timesheets in work management software; prepares and maintains monthly reports; prepares and administers performance evaluations for subordinates. Performs daily inspections of grounds, buildings, and common areas, including fences, park structures, parking lots, walkways; uses inspections to assign daily staff tasks, depending on area of assignment. Assigns work order numbers, retains records to monitor status of work done by staff and agency, inputs staff work hours daily, approves and updates records daily, and approves time cards for subordinate staff in a timely manner. Ensures all assigned personnel adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the agency and the County. Performs related work as assigned. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Manages all sections of the Maintenance Division as required, ensuring work aligns with operational needs and maintenance requirements of the entire airport complex including HVAC, electronics, and mechanical. Provides coordination and supervision to skilled trades supervisors and labor crew to implement the airport’s maintenance program, maintaining the terminals, runways, roadways, and systems in accordance with FAA regulations, County and Federal Code and compliance regulations, and County policies and procedures. Inspects construction projects performed under contract for compliance with specifications and reviews plans and specifications for future development and construction. Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports; attends meetings and conferences concerning code enforcement and enforces provisions of Florida Statute 399 and related regulations. Develops and administers the preventative maintenance program for all airport facilities, systems, and assets. Physical Demands Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, stretching, or lifting all of the time and involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular basis or occasional exceptions; tasks may involve close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
