Job Description

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

1. Assess the capabilities of the United States Mint in terms of engineering skills and time available to undertake work of given scope and nature; provide budgetary input for construction and facility improvements.
2. Monitor spending on facility projects against budgets and submits requests for changes as needed; estimate the costs of all related services needed to effectively execute plant improvements or machinery relocation, installation, and operation.
3. When needed use this and any other related information to prepare/ provide budgetary input for improvements and acquisition projects/ programs; perform cost-to-benefit and cost-to-need analysis; author sole source justifications; develop and submit requisitions, contracts, PARs, requiring the development of short- and long-range (up to 5 years or more year) plans for production needs and budgetary requirements.
4. Assure that improvements of buildings and associated equipment meet all applicable state, local, OSHA, EPA, and conservation requirements.
5. Lead teams in continuous improvement projects; ensures that incoming inspection procedures (for raw materials and repair parts) are documented properly and followed in practice.
