This position is responsible for the purchasing and procurement of supplies and equipment for the hospital departments. The Materials Coordinator is responsible for the development and maintenance of customer relations between Surgical Services Department and Materials Management. It is responsible for incorporating purchasing knowledge with established standards of practice. This position ensures quality and safe patient care through the procurement of appropriate products in a cost-effective manner. The Materials Coordinator works in collaboration with the management team to meet the procedural supplies and equipment needs for all USC Verdugo Hills. This position is also responsible for working with vendor’s to ensure a good relationship between vendor and the hospital.Minimum Education: High School DiplomaMinimum Experience/Knowledge: Minimum of two years’ hospital experience in the OR/ Materials Management. Thorough knowledge of all medical supplies utilized in the medical facility. Knowledge of sterile technique as it applies to supply handling. Ability to speak, read and write English. Displays behavior conducive to excellent customer service. Knowledge of Inventory Management, Clinical Documentation, inventory control and contract compliance. Demonstrated ability skills in problem-solving. Strong organizational and time management skills.
