Position Overview Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health (State of Connecticut, Department of Children and Families, Middletown, CT). Full‑time, 2nd shift (2:45 pm – 11:15 pm). PCP 44556. Compensation Base annual salary plus an annual recruitment & retention bonus of $3,000 for nurses permanently assigned to the second or third shift (prorated for part‑time). Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support. Maintain accurate medical records and controlled drug inventories. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans. Provide education to patients, families, and staff regarding health and wellness. Participate in outpatient clinics, physical examinations, and routine testing. Administer routine tests and conduct training sessions. Delegate nursing tasks according to established protocols. Engage in psychotherapeutic and rehabilitation interventions. Ensure supplies, medications, and equipment are available and maintained. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a behavioral health hospital setting. Experience serving youth with complex psychiatric profiles. Special Requirements Must possess a current Registered Nurse license in Connecticut or a valid multistate/compact RN license. Some positions may require fluency in a foreign language or proficiency in American Sign Language. Travel may be required. Working Conditions Lifting and restraining patients may be necessary. Exposure to communicable/infectious diseases and risk of injury from assaultive or abusive individuals. Exposure to disagreeable conditions.
