Biologist

We are seeking a Biologist to support scientific research, laboratory operations and the delivery of high-quality biological data. The successful candidate will plan and conduct experiments, collect and analyse biological samples, maintain accurate records and contribute to the interpretation of results. Responsibilities may include cell culture, molecular biology, microbiology, microscopy, biochemical assays or other relevant techniques, depending on project requirements. You will follow approved protocols, maintain laboratory equipment, prepare reagents and samples, and ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with applicable regulations and quality standards.


The role will involve collaborating with scientists, technicians and other stakeholders to develop experimental approaches, troubleshoot technical issues and communicate findings clearly. You will prepare reports, technical summaries and presentations, contribute to research documentation and support the continuous improvement of laboratory methods. The Biologist may also assist with stock management, sample tracking, risk assessments, standard operating procedures and the training or mentoring of colleagues. Strong attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a consistent standard of work.


Applicants should hold a degree in biology, life sciences, biochemistry, microbiology or a related discipline, together with relevant laboratory or research experience. Practical knowledge of biological experimentation, data analysis and laboratory health and safety procedures is required. Experience with techniques such as DNA or RNA extraction, PCR, protein analysis, aseptic technique, tissue culture or environmental sampling would be advantageous. You should be organised, analytical and confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Clear written and verbal communication skills, sound scientific judgement and a willingness to learn new methods are also important. The ability to manage confidential information and comply with ethical, regulatory and quality requirements is expected.
