Sales Account Manager

Smithfield Foods, a leading packaged meats company, seeks a Sales Account Manager to introduce and place new products with customers, execute business initiatives, and drive sales for long‑term growth. The role supports a diverse portfolio that includes bacon, ham, fresh pork, and other product categories. Responsibilities Accountable for achieving budgeted sales of consumer goods to key customers and developing maximum sales volume in line with projections for accounts served. Maintain existing accounts for continued growth, keeping current knowledge of product management, marketing, and R&D efforts to increase sales and meet customer demands for new items. Cultivate business relations across all organizational levels to communicate product availability, logistics information, specifications, and pricing as needed. Ensure prompt and equitable disposition of customer complaints or problems, often coordinating with corporate headquarters. May perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience). Knowledge of the dynamics of the food business industry or retail channels is required. Experience in customer‑focused, fact‑based selling, including IRI, Nielsen, and Perishable Group data. Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and organizational planning skills. Excellent written and verbal communication and adaptability in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Respectful, approachable, team‑oriented, and able to build strong working relationships. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time. Physical Demands & Work Environment Capable of sitting for extended periods and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and have adequate vision (close, distance, peripheral, depth). Compensation Expected pay range: $70,000 – $97,500 annually. Base pay is one component of a comprehensive total rewards package.
