Qualifications Strong communication and interpersonal skills Empathetic personality with concern for patients’ needs Strong organization skills with attention to detail Ability to work as part of a team Computer literacy Ability to learn and apply training effectively Essential Job Functions Communication and Patient Care Introduce new patients to office procedures. Explain the purpose of tests and how patients will be affected. Obtain patient history, including chief complaint, medical and ocular history, family history, allergies, and medications. Perform documentation and measurement tasks such as: Visual acuity Manual lensometry Confrontational visual fields Stereo testing Evaluation of motility Pupillary function tests Color plates Applanation tonometry Refractometry Angle assessment Dilation of pupils Contact lens evaluations Visual field testing Optic nerve scanning (OCT, HRT, GDx) Pachymetry Corneal topography Other tests as required by the physician Skills & Abilities Education: High school diploma required; some college preferred.
