Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for Med/Surg Telemetry Nurse!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12 Hour Days, Every Other Weekend, First to Float
- Unit Details:
- 45 total beds combining adult med/surg and pediatric med/surg telemetry
- Pediatric experience preferred

- Patient Ratios:
- 1 RN to 5 Patients

- Required Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS preferred

- Common Patient Diagnoses:
- Medsurg patients
- COPD
- Post-op
- GI bleeds
- OBGYN surgeries
- Ortho
- Sepsis
- Altered Mental Status
- Chest Pain, Rule Out
- Stroke
- Cellulitis
- Alcohol Withdrawal

- Experience Needed:
- 2-3 years in specialty
- Pediatric experience required for pediatric patients

- Skills:
- Must be able to titrate Heparin drips
- Knowledge of CPAP, BiPAP, High-flow therapy, and vents

- Support Staff:
- Nurse aides available on unit
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor takes lead without pt assignment


- Scheduling:
- Self-scheduling available to some extent
- Block scheduling: 12 hr shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM
- Schedules made 30-45 days in advance

- Weekend Requirement:
- Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule

- Holiday Requirement:
- Work into permanent staff rotation

- Floating Requirements:
- Not required but may float to tele or OB if desired

- Dress Code:
- Navy Blue Scrubs

- Orientation:
- 2-3 days with an engaging scavenger hunt

- Additional Notes:
- Fast-paced unit with an average patient stay of 3 days
- Hospitalist on-site 24/7 provides great support
