Job Overview Position: Patient Financial Services Associate Location: On‑site at HSHS – St. Joseph’s Hospital, Breese, IL Compensation: $18.65 – $20.50 per hour, depending on experience Key Responsibilities Interview uninsured/under‑insured patients to assess eligibility for state Medicaid benefit or financial assistance programs. Assist patients with application processes and ensure accurate, timely submissions. Follow up on submitted applications to determine status, updating insurance information and ensuring billing or adjustment posting. Document all relevant actions and communications in the patient accounting system. Maintain knowledge of state and federal program requirements and share information with colleagues. Develop and maintain proactive relationships with county/state/federal Medicaid caseworkers and collaborate with revenue cycle departments. Perform other job duties as assigned. Qualifications 1–2 years experience in healthcare industry, interacting with patients about hospital financial issues. Knowledge of revenue cycle processes (admission, billing, payments, denials). Understanding of patient insurance processes, authorizations, and benefits verification. Knowledge of health insurance requirements and medical terminology/CPT procedure codes. Experience in patient access with managed care/insurance or call center preferred. Inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI solutions.
