Responsibilities
- Assess patients of all ages through established evaluation methods and observations.
- Craft individualized treatment strategies aimed at achieving both immediate and future communication or swallowing objectives.
- Engage in tailored speech therapy sessions targeting fluency, voice, language, and swallowing challenges.
- Work in concert with physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, families, and caregivers to develop effective care plans.
- Provide education to patients and families, aiding progress beyond therapy sessions.
- Facilitate occasional inpatient therapy assessments and interventions, ensuring smooth transitions in care throughout recovery.
- Keep meticulous records that align with various regulatory standards and organizational requirements.
- Enhance your professional skills through ongoing education and teamwork with peers.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet certified by ASHA.
- Active state license as a Speech Language Pathologist .
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first month of employment.
- Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic techniques for various age groups, alongside a deep understanding of speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Outstanding communication skills to connect effectively with patients, family members, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Adeptness at modifying therapy techniques to embrace cultural and linguistic diversity.
- Sound clinical judgment combined with insightful problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation protocols.
