The Tax Branch of the Employment Development Department (EDD) has an immediate opening to fill one (1), Associate Tax Auditor vacancy in a dynamic team within the Field Audit and Compliance Division's, Van Nuys Area Audit Office's, Technical Audit & Outreach Group.

Under the direction of the Tax Administrator I, the Associate Tax Auditor (ATA) will represent the Department at tax or benefit hearings; review petitions, account adjustments, and assist with the preparation of responses to petitions and account adjustments on the more difficult and complex employer accounts with multiple status issues. The ATA will assist the Staff Tax Auditors (STA) to identify and develop audit leads for out-of-state and local Area Audit Offices (AAO). The EDD also provides education to employers by conducting cost-free seminars and participating in outreach events.

The position headquarters is in Van Nuys, CA and the position may be eligible for limited telework. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month.
