Job Title: Research Associate Department: Engineering | Biomedical Engineering Research Associate 1-Engineer will participate in developing, designing and implementing research projects within Dr. Queen’s research lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Additionally, the Research Associate 1 – Engineer will administer and conduct scientific experiments and tests. The candidate will need to be able to independently reproduce, evaluate, research and improve techniques as well as adapting new methods for existing procedures; researches current state of science in injury mechanisms, rehabilitation from injury or disease and human development; develops and evaluates biomechanical models and computer based systems to measure human movement; develops data analysis tools using Matlab and Python scripts and additional software packages; performs relational database development; collects and processes 3-D motion analysis data; collection and analysis of electromyographic data as well as pressure and load measurements; implementation of new data collection methods in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment; assists with grant development; performs general computer and equipment troubleshooting and maintenance as needed. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering or a related program required; 3 years of working experience specializing in gait and motion analysis required with Associate's Degree, or 1 years of working experience specializing in gait and motion analysis required with Bachelor's Degree; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research required; at least one year working experience specializing in gait and motion analysis required Desired: Relational database development and management experience preferred (REDCap experience); experience in an engineering research capacity desired. Knowledge of biomechanics data collection methods and equipment troubleshooting as well as the ability to work well in larger teams on multiple projects at the same time. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen. Additional Information: The target hiring range for this job profile is $51,500 - $67,250, paid monthly. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc. Location: Fontana Laboratories (1018) Position Type: Term (Fixed Term) Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
