Responsible for providing journey level work in the testing, repair, inspection, maintenance, and operation of fire sprinkler systems.Responsibilities:Performs journey-level work in the testing, repair, inspection, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to meet NFPA codes using hand tools and monitoring devices.Performs both routine and preventive maintenance on fire sprinkler systems.Provides information to management for new projects and deferred maintenance planning.Reviews designs and maintains proper documentation to ensure compliance with NFPA codes and university construction standards.Maintains inventory control and inspects test equipment for safe and proper operations.Maintains a clean and safe work environment.Coordinates work with outside contractors.Performs work from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established safety procedures.Performs other job related functions as assigned. Will participate in the On-Call program.Required Qualifications: High school graduation or GED. Two years of experience in journey level installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of electronic equipment, systems, and components.Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree in a technical field. Be knowledgeable of the Fire Water Distribution Loop and be product knowledgeable. More than two years of the described experience. Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Customer service oriented. Computer skills. NICET Certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems and/or Water Based Systems Layout. Master Plumber License. AutoCAD experience. Essential personnel must maintain contact with their supervisor and report to work as regularly scheduled unless directed otherwise.Required to operate an electronic device such as an iPhone, iPad, or laptop/desktop computer to perform and fulfill time reporting and work management requirements.
