Senior Manager, Software Engineering - OCI (Austin)

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.
Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience5+ years’ experience building and operating large scale, highly available, cloud based distributed systems3+ years of manager experience and 10 years industry experienceStrong knowledge of operating system fundamentalsStrong understanding of data models and distributed persistence technologiesThorough understanding of latest security principles, techniques, and protocolsStrong troubleshooting and performance tuning skillsKnowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycleExperience building and operating scalable infrastructure software or distributed systemsExperience using Amazon Web Services such as EC2, EBS, Lambda, Dynamo and S3 or equivalentsDemonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical skills, with excellent problem solving abilities
