Base Pay $16.90 - $21.66 / Hour Job Category Part-time, Off-campus , Department of Motor Vehicles Employee Type Student Assistant Manage Others No Description The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking to hire a student assistant to work under in the Reconciliation and Financial Reporting Unit. This position is an excellent opportunity to get hands‑on experience on the core accounting skills to prepare you for a great start in an accounting career. The student assistant will assist in the monthly reconciliation of various funds, support various operational functions in the unit and learn a great deal about government accounting, accounting systems, and financial reporting. Requirements Conditions of Employment This is a part‑time, temporary, non‑benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. Prerequisites Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students. Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting. Majors/Fields of Study Accounting; Business Administration or any related field. Work Schedule During school, a total of 24 hours per week, Monday – Friday, between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. During breaks, Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Additional Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer). Compensation $16.90 to $21.66 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Must complete each term with minimum unit requirements for Undergraduate and Graduate student classifications. Proof will be collected at the end of each Spring and Fall term. Must submit transcripts (unofficial transcripts gladly accepted). Only the most qualified applicants will be interviewed. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Maintain consistent and regular attendance. Ability to take direction as well as initiative to follow through and complete assignments independently. Basic familiarity with spreadsheets and the ability to learn new software quickly. Preferred Qualifications Accounting experience preferred. Duties and Responsibilities Assist in reconciling various General Ledger accounts. Assist in preparing monthly reconciliation of various funds. Assist in preparing monthly revenue reports. Assist in various cashier-related duties. Assist in determining the accuracy of various automated reports. Assist in the preparation of year‑end financial reports. Other duties as required. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment. The office is located at the DMV headquarters in Sacramento.
