Position Summary The Solar Construction Manager is responsible for overall field execution of utility‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects within an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) environment. This role oversees site construction activities from mobilization through mechanical completion and turnover, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and contractual obligations. The Solar Construction Manager provides leadership to site superintendents, subcontractors, and field teams while coordinating closely with project management, engineering, procurement, commissioning, and quality teams to successfully deliver large‑scale solar generation facilities. Key Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) Project Execution & Field Leadership Provide overall leadership and direction for all on‑site construction activities associated with utility‑scale photovoltaic (PV) solar projects. Manage field execution from site mobilization through mechanical completion and commissioning support. Oversee site superintendents, field engineers, craft labor, and subcontractors performing civil, mechanical, and electrical work. Ensure construction activities align with EPC project schedules, budgets, and contractual milestones. Lead daily coordination meetings with field teams and subcontractors to plan work activities and resolve field issues. Schedule & Production Management Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules in coordination with project controls and project management teams. Monitor productivity and resource allocation to maintain schedule commitments. Identify potential schedule risks and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays. Coordinate delivery and staging of major equipment including PV modules, trackers/fixed‑tilt racking systems, inverters, MV equipment, and substation components. Oversee installation activities including: Site preparation and grading Access roads and drainage Driven pile or ground screw installation Tracker or fixed‑tilt racking systems DC collection systems Underground trenching and cable installation Substation and interconnection infrastructure Ensure all installation work complies with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and applicable codes and standards. Safety Leadership Promote a strong safety culture and enforce compliance with all site safety policies and regulatory requirements. Partner with site safety personnel to implement Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and safety plans. Lead safety meetings, perform site safety inspections, and ensure prompt correction of hazards. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and industry best practices for construction safety. Quality Control & Compliance Work with quality teams to ensure construction work meets project specifications and quality standards. Support implementation of inspection and test plans (ITPs) and quality documentation requirements. Coordinate field inspections and support resolution of non‑conformance issues. Subcontractor & Workforce Management Manage subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and safety expectations. Review subcontractor work plans and ensure alignment with project sequencing and milestones. Address workforce performance issues and ensure appropriate staffing levels to support construction progress. Stakeholder & Client Coordination Serve as the primary on‑site point of contact for project stakeholders including project management, engineering teams, and client representatives. Provide regular status updates on construction progress, safety performance, and schedule milestones. Maintain positive relationships with local authorities, landowners, and community stakeholders when required. Project Reporting & Documentation Provide routine progress reports to project leadership. Track construction progress, manpower levels, equipment utilization, and productivity metrics. Support project documentation requirements including daily reports, field change documentation, and progress tracking. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred. Minimum 7–10 years of construction experience, with significant experience in utility‑scale solar, renewable energy, or large industrial EPC construction projects. Demonstrated experience managing large field teams and/or subcontractors on complex utility‑scale solar energy projects delivered in an EPC environment. Prior experience overseeing solar PV construction projects (typically 50MW+ preferred) strongly desired. Strong leadership and field management capabilities. Working knowledge of utility‑scale solar construction methods, equipment, and installation practices. Ability to interpret construction drawings, electrical one‑lines, civil plans, and technical specifications. Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors across civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes. Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across field teams and project stakeholders. Experience working with utility‑scale solar tracker systems such as Nextracker highly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook Familiarity with project management platforms such as Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, or similar construction management software preferred Proficiency with Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to resolve field issues quickly. OSHA 30 Certification required or ability to obtain.
