Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department, applying nursing theory and clinical skills to evaluate and treat patients and families.
- Conduct primary and secondary assessments, triage, and establish care priorities in accordance with ED standards and triage guidelines.
- Administer medications and perform invasive and non-invasive procedures as appropriate; monitor patient response and adjust care plans.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team; assume charge nurse responsibilities when assigned, delegate tasks, and mentor junior staff as needed.
- Educate patients and families, prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, provide discharge instructions, and arrange post-ED care when applicable.
- Maintain infection prevention practices, uphold a healing environment, and communicate clearly with patients and families throughout the ED experience.

Requirements
- Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; NIHSS credentialing
- Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI) required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience
- Education appropriate for professional nursing practice (RN degree from an accredited program)
- Ability to work effectively in an ED/hospital setting and to adapt to rotating shifts
