This position works closely with providers to deliver high‑quality care while ensuring efficient patient flow and a positive, welcoming experience for every patient. Key Responsibilities Register patients and collect necessary demographic, insurance, and eligibility information Process co‑pays and assist with scheduling Prepare patients for examination by obtaining medical history and documenting accurately in the medical record Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight Perform point‑of‑care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, EKG, pregnancy testing) and report results to providers Draw blood and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms; monitor inventory levels Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the medical record system Support front desk responsibilities, including phone management and patient communication Conduct patient follow‑up calls as needed Complete opening and closing duties, including cash handling and end‑of‑day reconciliation Perform equipment checks, quality control, and troubleshooting as needed Follow all clinical, safety, and organizational policies and procedures Perform additional duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (required) Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience (required) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required at time of hire) Must be obtained through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Preferred Qualifications Graduate of a Medical Assisting program Experience in urgent care, emergency department, or hospital setting Prior experience with patient registration or front desk responsibilities Certification Requirements Candidates with less than three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience must: Hold an approved Medical Assistant certification OR Obtain certification within 12 months of hire Accepted Certifications Include CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA) CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or CHP) RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT, AAH or ARMA) NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) NRCMA – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP) Alternative Qualifications 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience, AND 1+ year of experience in an urgent care, emergency department, or hospital setting Additional Accepted Credentials Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Additional Requirements CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in Medical Assistant clinical duties Strong computer skills and ability to document efficiently High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to work both independently and within a team environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Commitment to providing respectful, patient‑centered care Additional Information This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
