Professional Development Educator - Medical Assistant II

Job Summary:As a Professional Development Educator, you’ll help MaineGeneral staff build the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to provide high-quality care.

You’ll work closely with leaders and interdisciplinary teams to identify learning needs, develop meaningful education programs, support new employee orientation, and provide ongoing professional development. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys teaching, mentoring, collaboration, and finding better ways to help others succeed.

Job Description:

What You’ll Do

• Assess learning needs and develop education programs that support staff competency, clinical practice, regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and professional growth.
• Design, deliver, and evaluate educational programs using a variety of teaching methods and technology to make learning engaging and effective.
• Support new employee orientation and onboarding, helping staff feel prepared, confident, and connected as they begin their work at MaineGeneral.
• Serve as a resource, mentor, and consultant to staff and leaders on professional development, clinical practice, education, and program development.
• Promote evidence-based practice and continuous improvement by encouraging research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and the use of current best practices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for education and development that support both staff and patient outcomes.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience in healthcare education, staff development, clinical education, or a related field.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
• Ability to assess learning needs and translate them into practical, engaging educational experiences.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills.
• A collaborative approach and genuine interest in helping others learn and grow.
• Certification in health education preferred.
• Previous Work Experience: Work experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Certification: Certified by an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Education: Possession of an associate degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited school.
  
  

Compensation Information:

The hourly pay range shown represents the base pay range for this position. Individual pay is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and market considerations. In addition to base pay, eligible team members may earn additional compensation through shift, weekend, holiday, on-call, and other applicable differentials.
