Onsite Safety Manager – Distribution Facility (Orangeburg, SC)

GPS Jobs is seeking a hands-on Safety Manager to lead and elevate safety at a high-volume distribution facility supporting global shipments.

What You’ll Do

• Build a comprehensive onsite safety program from the ground up
• Drive OSHA compliance and safe work practices across all operations
• Oversee forklift and clamp truck safety , including training/certification
• Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations
• Develop SOPs, safety documentation, and corrective action plans
• Lead safety training programs and new hire orientations
• Partner with operations to embed safety into daily workflows
• Champion housekeeping standards (5S) to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
• Oversee railcar loading/unloading safety operations
• Implement and lead heat illness prevention training
• Manage fire hazard prevention programs

What We’re Looking For

• Experience building or improving safety programs
• Background in distribution, warehouse, or industrial environments
• Knowledge of machine safety (guarding, lockout/tagout)
• Solid understanding of OSHA General Industry standards
• Experience with powered industrial trucks (forklifts)
• Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills
• Self-starter who can drive culture change and accountability

Preferred Qualifications:

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Train-the-trainer experience
