SummaryThe Truck Driver for Alabama Goodwill Industries is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional transportation of donated goods between donation centers, retail stores, warehouses, and other designated locations. This role ensures timely pickups and deliveries while maintaining compliance with all safety, DOT, and company policies.Drivers serve as front-line ambassadors of Alabama Goodwill Industries and are expected to provide excellent customer service while supporting the organization’s mission of transforming lives through education, training, and employment.Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation & OperationsOperate box trucks and/or tractor-trailers safely and efficientlyExecute assigned routes and schedules as directed by dispatchLoad and unload donated goods using proper equipment and techniquesEnsure proper load securement to prevent damage or injuryTransport goods between retail stores, ADCs, warehouses, and partner locationsSafety & CompliancePerform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspectionsComply with all DOT regulations and company safety policiesReport accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions immediatelyMaintain a clean driving record and safe driving practicesUse required PPE (gloves, safety vest, back support, etc.)Equipment & Vehicle CareMaintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicleOperate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipmentReport mechanical issues promptlyEnsure all required safety equipment is present and functionalDocumentation & TechnologyUtilize GPS and fleet tracking systemsComplete digital manifests and delivery confirmationsObtain proof of delivery when requiredAccurately record mileage, fuel usage, and route activityCustomer ServiceProvide courteous and professional interactions with donors, customers, and staffRepresent Alabama Goodwill Industries in a positive mannerAddress basic customer questions and escalate concerns as neededQualificationsRequiredValid driver’s licenseClean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screeningAbility to lift 50–75 lbs regularlyStrong attention to safety and detailBasic mobile device/technology skillsPreferredPrevious delivery or logistics experienceExperience operating box trucks or tractor-trailersKnowledge of DOT regulationsExperience with GPS routing systems or delivery softwarePhysical RequirementsFrequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of donated goodsStanding, walking, bending, and climbing in/out of vehiclesAbility to work in varying weather conditionsExtended periods of drivingWork EnvironmentCombination of driving, warehouse, and retail environmentsExposure to outdoor weather conditionsFast-paced, physically active work settingWork ScheduleFull-time positionSchedule may include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekendsRoutes assigned daily by dispatchCompensation$21.00 per hourEligible for benefits in accordance with Alabama Goodwill Industries policyAdditional RequirementsCompliance with all Alabama Goodwill Industries policies and proceduresParticipation in ongoing safety and training programsCommitment to the mission and values of Alabama Goodwill IndustriesAlabama Goodwill Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
