Statement of Duties Curriculum and Planning: Possesses sound knowledge and understanding of the subject matter and pedagogy, consistently engaging students. Knowledge of developmental levels and differentiated learning experiences. Ability to design units of instruction with measurable outcomes and higher‑order thinking tasks. Ability to design well‑structured lessons with pacing, sequence, materials, resources, technologies and grouping. Assessment: Design and administer informal and formal assessments, including common interim assessments. Analyze results, adjust practice, implement interventions. Analysis: Draw conclusions from assessment data to improve student learning. Share findings with colleagues, seek feedback. Provide descriptive feedback and engage students/families. Instruction: Define high expectations for quality work. Use motivating instructional practices. Use tiered instruction and scaffolds to accommodate different learning styles. Learning Environment: Use rituals and routines to create a safe environment. Develop interpersonal, group, and communication skills. Create learning experiences that guide students. Cultural Proficiency: Use strategies to respect differences. Respond to conflicts arising from differences. Expectations: Communicate standards. Model effort. Adapt instruction. Family and Community Engagement: Use strategies to support families. Collaboration with Students: Update parents on curriculum and strategies. Provide clear expectations. Communication: Use two‑way communication with families. Communicate respectfully. Reflection: Reflect on lessons, units and interactions. Propose measurable professional practice goals. Professional Growth: Seek and apply ideas for improvement. Collaboration with Colleagues: Collaborate on standards‑based units, student work analysis and interventions. Decision‑Making: Contribute ideas to planning and decision making. Shared Responsibility: Reinforce schoolwide behavior and learning expectations. Additional Responsibilities: Follow directives from the Principal, Supervisor, Superintendent and School Committee. Qualifications Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education – Mathematics 8‑12 (Required) SEI Endorsement Required Proficiency shown through transcripts; preference for evidence of academic accomplishment. Successful experience teaching in secondary grades. Alternative qualifications may be considered at Superintendent's discretion.
