Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience required - Experience with charting systems, particularly Epic, is required Description: This position involves working in a critical care float pool. The float pool covers various critical care units. Experience in Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, Cardiac Care Unit, and Oncology ICU is preferred. The Surgical ICU primarily cares for patients with traumatic injuries, surgical complications, and neuro conditions. The Medical ICU handles critically ill patients with severe medical comorbidities. The Cardiac Care Unit focuses on patients requiring additional monitoring after cardiac procedures. The Oncology ICU cares for critically ill oncology patients and those needing chemotherapy inductions. All units manage cases such as DKA and ETOH withdrawal among others who need increased levels of care. Applicants should possess flexible scheduling. Every other weekend work, including Saturdays and Sundays, is required. Working on holidays may also be expected. The position includes responsibilities such as managing arterial lines, administering blood products, and monitoring patients on ventilators. It is essential to demonstrate proficiency in critical care skills and procedures. The success in this role requires a collaborative approach with interdisciplinary teams. Candidates should be prepared for potential floating based on the needs of the facility. All units require specialty experience within the last year.
