AAA Services Coordinator

The AAA Services Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting older adults and individuals with disabilities across Colorado’s AAA Region 1. This position is responsible for coordinating essential programs under Title III of the Older Americans Act, empowering residents to maintain independence and access critical resources. As a key advocate and liaison, the coordinator connects community members with specialized services, including the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) and the Adult Disability Resource Center (ADRC). This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities while working collaboratively with local agencies and community partners.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and maintain state certifications as a Colorado Certified SHIP Coordinator and for Colorado ADRC Coordination.
- Conduct in-home assessments to determine eligibility for Older Americans Act programs and provide direct client support.
- Oversee Information and Assistance program operations across six assigned counties, including regular visits to meal sites and senior centers.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of seniors at local, state, and national levels.
- Serve as a representative to County Councils on Aging and interagency groups, providing input and fostering collaboration.
- Maintain accurate records for program justification and operation, including timely entry of mileage logs and data collection reports.
- Assist the AAA Director in planning senior services and gathering data for the comprehensive four-year plan.
- Support volunteer recruitment and help coordinate annual volunteer appreciation events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in social work, case management, gerontology, or working with senior or disabled populations (such as CNA or RN experience).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to obtain SHIP Counselor Certification within 6 months of employment and maintain all required certifications.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned counties.
- Working knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding senior services.
- Strong communication skills, including exceptional listening and telephone abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to lift 5 to 50 pounds as needed.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check.
