Position Behavioral Assistant Objective Build capacity within the district to provide best clinical support and behavioral services for students with disabilities and at-risk students in grades PK‑12. Function as a professional in the Special Education substantially separate, behavioral-based, and inclusion classroom settings. Provide individual, group, or classroom support under direction of teachers, consultants, related service providers, and other personnel to meet IEP goals. Address safety needs related to behavior management and support development of social, emotional, sensory, and academic needs. Assist in development, implementation, and monitoring of behavioral improvement plans, including de‑escalation, reinforcement, consequence, data collection, and physical management. Review students IEPs with teachers and employ universal precautions related to health and hygiene. Responsibilities Work with Special Education/Student Services Department and staff to develop, implement, and monitor a behavioral improvement plan addressing all student needs. Provide frequent consultation with all staff at Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention Programs (CBIP), Trinity Day Academy, and Whaling City. Support development of a Response to Intervention (RTI) model for in‑school and community support. Analyze and collect student data and complete reports for the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. Ensure state and federal compliance with progress monitoring and data collection for IEPs. Maintain accurate, complete student records as required by law. Provide technical assistance and consultation to support students exhibiting social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. Assist students in crisis situations and provide individual, family, and group interventions as needed. Support and coordinate Extended Year Services for students receiving programmatic or related services during the summer. Support Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans for students, including interim placements. Attend meetings as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education & Student Services. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Clinical/Behavioral Services. Qualifications Experience working with students with challenging behaviors. Preferred Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in special education, psychology, applied behavior analysis, or social work. Preferred bilingual in Spanish and Portuguese. Trained or willing to be trained in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Preventing and Managing Aggressive Behavior (PMAB); past experience with physical intervention preferred. Willingness to assist with developmental milestones such as daily living skills. Two to three years of experience in Special Education/Student Services and residential treatment services. Understanding of behavioral intervention techniques such as ignoring, limit setting, reinforcement, consequence, proximity control, timeout, level systems, and physical management. Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring special education programs and behavioral intervention strategies. Experience collaborating with community-based mental health agencies and related services. Understanding of DESE mandated restraint training requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and social skills. Excellent work attendance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
