Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift Heavy Industrial Sheet Metal Manufacturing Location: Brooklyn Park, MN Company: Nystrom Building Products Reports to: 2nd Shift Production Manager This Is Hands-On, Problem-Solving Maintenance Are you someone who likes figuring out how things work—and making them work better? This isn’t just responding to breakdowns—you’ll troubleshoot, prevent problems before they happen, and work closely with operations to support a high-performing manufacturing environment. This is a 2nd shift role that requires independence, strong mechanical skills, and a safety-first mindset. What You’ll Do Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on manufacturing equipment Respond to unplanned downtime and help restore equipment safely and efficiently Complete preventive maintenance tasks using CMMS schedules and document work clearly Support facility systems, utilities, and infrastructure as needed Follow lockout/tagout, PPE, hot work, and all safety procedures—no shortcuts Communicate clearly with operations and provide accurate shift handoffs Identify recurring issues and support continuous improvement efforts Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment What You Bring 3–5 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting Strong mechanical skills; electrical troubleshooting experience is a plus High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree, certification, or apprenticeship preferred) Comfort working independently with minimal supervision on 2nd shift Basic computer skills and experience using maintenance software Willingness to learn new equipment, systems, and technologies Who Thrives Here People who put safety first—every task, every time Technicians who take ownership of their work and follow through Problem‑solvers who look for root causes, not quick fixes Team players who communicate clearly and respect production priorities Self‑directed individuals who manage their time well on off‑shifts Those who are adaptable when priorities change and downtime needs hit Why Nystrom?
