Operating Room Nurse

Overview Nurse (Operating Room), Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA (Madigan) Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Madigan Army Medical Center is a designated Level Two trauma center within the U.S. Military Health System. Responsibilities Serve as an Operating Room Nurse providing perioperative nursing care in a multi-service operating room, supporting complex surgical procedures from preoperative care to PACU and sterile processing. Provide intra-operative nursing care for patients of all ages undergoing major surgical procedures across multiple specialties; participate in preoperative planning and postoperative care. Perform circulating roles, maintain sterile technique, assist surgeons, coordinate intra-operative plans, and ensure patient safety and aseptic technique. Monitor anesthesia, equipment, and patient responses; initiate corrective actions and engage in quality improvement and risk management activities. Prepare and manage supplies, equipment, and implants; ensure proper counts and availability of instruments and supplies; respond to breaches of sterile technique as needed. Document patient status, medications given, positioning, and nursing care plans; prepare notes and maintain medical records including implants and device information. Assist with patient positioning, intraoperative monitoring lines, and coordination with anesthesia during procedures; respond to emergencies and provide post-procedure care as required. Provide on-the-job training and guidance to military and civilian personnel, students, residents, and other healthcare professionals; model best practices and participate in policy and process improvements. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Education/Experience: A diploma, associate, or bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and at least one full year of professional nursing experience, or a PhD/equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing program or related medical science field. Basic Requirement For Nurse (Clinical/Operating Room): Degree from an accredited nursing program (CCNE-accredited preferred). Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted nursing license in the United States (or equivalent in a U.S. territory); must have passed the NCLEX. Foreign Degree: Certification required for degrees from foreign nursing schools. Exemption: Current federal employee in the 0610 series continuously since 9/27/2017 or earlier may be exempt with appropriate documentation. Additional Qualifications: Either (a) one year of professional nursing experience after the degree, or (b) a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in nursing or a related field, or (c) three years of progressively higher level graduate education in nursing. #J-18808-Ljbffr
