Medical Records Technician

Duties

Help

Track and monitor medical records performance improvement processes using established measurement systems.

Establish and maintain systems for collecting, recording, and reporting medical data.

Retrieve and review medical records using medical terminology and ICD codes.

Maintain automated tracking logs for all transactions.

Maintain incident reporting systems and clinical event systems.

Maintain electronic and paper files.

Ensure reporting systems support the flow of forms and documents across nursing, ambulatory care, and safety offices.

Receive patients being admitted to the medical treatment facility.

Check patient's eligibility for care and determines proper classification of patient seeking treatment and/or being admitted.

Track all Release of Information (ROI) as required using software such as the Protected Health Information Management Tool (PHIMT).
