Job Description

Requirements:

Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
BLS and PALS certification required
CCRN-Pediatric certification preferred
1+ years of PICU/pediatric critical care experience required
Experience with critical care equipment and pediatric/neonatal advanced life support

Duties:

Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents requiring intensive monitoring and support
Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating care as needed
Administer medications, including titratable drips, per physician orders, accounting for precise pediatric dosing
Manage and monitor advanced life support equipment (ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, hemodynamic monitors)
Support family-centered care, involving parents/caregivers in treatment planning and daily care
Collaborate with pediatric intensivists, physicians, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
Perform rapid response and code interventions as needed
Educate patients (age-appropriate) and families on condition, treatment plan, and care needs
Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EMR
Maintain 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios per acuity and facility staffing guidelines
