Diesel/Automotive Technician

Eversource is looking for a talented and motivated Diesel/Automotive technician to join our Fleet team. Training will take place in either Wareham or Dorchester, MA, for a period of six months. Upon successful completion, the technician will be assigned a permanent location. This role is full-time and offers a starting salary of $47.26 per hour, with an upgrade to $57.61 per hour after the training period. Shift differential and various shift schedules apply. Responsibilities troubleshoot, inspect, and repair chassis, gas/diesel engines, drive trains, rear axles, steering mechanisms, hydraulic/air braking systems, suspensions, cooling systems, wheels, tires, and associated construction equipment perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs and preventive maintenance safely handle standard garage materials, chemicals, and maintain a clean and safe work area accurately document work using Chevin maintenance program work independently in the assigned shop or at other locations within classification limits Qualifications CDL driver’s and inspectors license preferred (must obtain within six months) High school diploma or equivalent Completion of a postsecondary program in automotive service technology a plus Valid health certificate available Experience with electronic diagnostic software and instrument systems preferred Working knowledge of and ability to use a tablet or desktop computer Ability to diagnose problems in automotive/truck equipment and make necessary repairs Familiarity with safe operation of torches and gas welding equipment Competencies Build trusting relationships Manage and develop people Foster teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration Lead change Communicate strategic vision Create an engaged workforce Focus on the customer Take ownership & accountability Additional Information Worker type: Regular Number of openings: 0 (Position filled or closed) Emergency Response: Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role.
