Dry van freight reliability and operational support give Chicago-area CDL-A truck drivers a regional position with steady mileage opportunities and a defined schedule. Drivers run multi-state freight with average hauls of 700-750 miles, mostly drop-and-hook loads, and late-model automatic equipment. The fleet operates on a 12-day cycle followed by a guaranteed 48-hour reset every other weekend.
The Work Week

Regional trips average 700-750 miles per haul, allowing drivers to spend more time covering miles instead of relying entirely on short runs. Freight moves across multiple states with load assignments coordinated to support consistent movement throughout each 12-day cycle.

Most loads are drop-and-hook. Some customers require live unloading, but the freight remains no-touch for the driver.
Operational Support

Drivers have access to dispatch assistance throughout each trip for routing, freight coordination, and load-related questions. Maintenance support is also available when equipment needs arise on the road.

The goal is a straightforward operation where drivers have the information and resources needed to complete each assignment and move on to the next load.
Pay and Benefits

Average weekly earnings range from $1,350-$1,500 based on miles and experience. Detention compensation is available for qualifying delays.

After 6 months, eligible drivers have access to medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, and participation in a 401(k) retirement plan.
Home Time

Drivers operate for 12 days before returning home for a full 48-hour reset every other weekend. This repeating cycle creates a defined home-time schedule while providing enough time on the road to maintain productive regional mileage.

Drivers may take their assigned tractor home during the reset when safe parking is available. Approved parking locations may also be used when needed.
Truck Details

The fleet includes 2021 or newer Freightliner and Kenworth tractors with automatic transmissions. Equipment includes APUs, inverters, refrigerator space, and mounts for a TV and microwave.

Trucks receive regularly scheduled preventive maintenance to help maintain reliability and limit avoidable equipment downtime.

Rider and pet programs are available for approved drivers.
CDL-A Driver Qualifications

Valid Class A CDL

Minimum 3 months of recent tractor-trailer driving experience

Acceptable driving and safety record

Ability to meet DOT qualification and company safety requirements
