Registered Nurse - Whitaker PRTF

Position Overview Registered Nurse (S) responsible for psychiatric‑mental health nursing care at Whitaker PRTF, a secure 18‑bed residential treatment facility. The RN will provide nursing care for 18 residents, including assessment, medication administration, monitoring, documentation, resident education, and collaboration with the treatment team. Responsibilities Diagnose and treat mental and medical conditions of residents. Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans. Monitor residents for physical and psychological status, including documentation of seclusions and restraints. Administer medication and evaluate effectiveness. Provide ongoing resident education regarding health, self‑care, socialization skills, and medication utilization. Act as nursing representative on the treatment team, relaying team decisions and rationales to nursing staff. Qualifications & Preferences Licensed as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year psychiatric nursing experience with children/adolescents preferred. Ability to independently plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Knowledge of medications and their physiological effects. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations. Must maintain credentials for Non‑violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Advanced Physical Training (APT), and CPR. Valid driver’s license. Experience with residents in secure residential treatment settings is a plus. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $61,177.00 – $91,767.00. Recruitment Range: $70,000.00 – $88,348.00. Conditional Sign‑On Bonus: $12,000 (subject to 2025‑2026 budget approval). Shift Premiums (12‑Hour Shifts) Day shift – none. Evening and night shifts – 20% premium. Weekends – additional 10% premium. Sign‑On Bonus Eligibility Not eligible if the applicant previously held a position in NC state government, the judicial system, or the UNC system within the last 12 months. Not eligible if the applicant has previously received a sign‑on bonus from any state agency. Not eligible if DHHS paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
