Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years minimum experience required License: Must have Michigan license in hand Certifications: Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Experience in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias Blood product administration Central line care and management Phlebotomy Starting and maintaining IVs Continuous IV sedation IV vasopressors Procedural sedation administration Trauma and neuro-trauma skills Description: The Emergency Room serves a diverse patient age group, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The facility has a daily average census of 76 patients, highlighting the demand and activity level within the department. Staffing ratios are maintained at 1:4-5 across all shifts to ensure quality patient care. The unit is equipped to handle a variety of chief complaints, including chest pain, respiratory issues, mental health evaluations, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, strokes, abdominal pain, sprains, strains, fractures, trauma, and cardiac arrest. The emergency room features 27 beds and operates as a primary stroke center while seeking trauma designation. There are dedicated areas for forensic nursing and mental health, with board-certified providers and charge nurses available 24/7 for comprehensive support. Special procedures include management of gunshot wounds, care of ventilated patients, and triage protocols. The role requires familiarity with Epic charting systems and a commitment to float within the service line as needed. Every other weekend is required as part of the scheduling structure. Compliance with isolation precautions and the ability to manage diverse emergency scenarios is essential for this position. Team collaboration with various interdisciplinary support services such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services is expected. Floating to other units as necessary is part of the role, ensuring wide-ranging experience and adaptability.
