Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of specialty experience required License: RN License (state or compact) Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Antepartum trained to float to Labor & Delivery with fetal monitoring experience - Travel experience required - Charge experience preferred Description: The position involves caring for postpartum patients who do not require ICU-level care. Care will be provided for a high-risk patient population. Antepartum patients with fetal monitoring experience will also be catered to. Newborn patients not requiring NICU-level care will be a focus. Candidates should be proficient in handling patients weighing 2000 grams and above, including late preterm and substance-exposed newborns. Responsibilities include administering phototherapy, magnesium drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips. Additionally, candidates will handle PCA and PCEA pumps. Breastfeeding support for postpartum patients is mandatory. The typical patient ratio is 1:3 couplets, or up to 6 patients. The unit accommodates 32 beds. Charting is done using a specific electronic health record system. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and more. Candidates must be willing to float to other areas as required. Participation in on-call duties is expected. Weekend shifts will be required based on unit needs. Candidates will manage various tasks, including discharge teaching to parents, infant care, and postpartum assessments. Medical administration, assessments, and support for breastfeeding are required skills. All procedures must follow established protocols and guidelines. Candidates should demonstrate effective patient care techniques and a commitment to quality. The work environment is fast-paced and requires adaptability to changes in workload and patient needs. Experience with electronic health records is preferred.
