POSITION SUMMARYAdministers respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as may be required by the supervisor and/or Medical Director, to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.TASK LETTER CODEPRIMARY DUTIES(Are the essential job tasks or primary responsibilities that the individual who holds the position mist be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of an accommodation. For example: “DO” (action verb) + “WHAT” (object) – “Collects vitals from patients at the being of the visit according to clinic protocol”.% OF TIME PERFORMING DUTYASets up equipment and medications and administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; charts treatment, response, and progress for all age groups.BMonitors environmental control systems and patients on continuous ventilation.CPerforms nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning and collection of specimen.DObserves patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds.EConducts diagnostic tests (PFTs, EKGs, ABGs, Stress Test) for patients as ordered by physicians.FChanges nebulizers and humidifiers and resets 02 flow as prescribed by physician.GAssures delivery of quality respiratory therapy services; consults with medical, and nursing staff on patient’s progress.HCoordinates with other service areas to ensure proper patient care.IResponds to all “code blue” and “rapid response” pages.JAssembles intubation supplies and assists with intubations.KReturn all ER calls immediately and respond immediately to all requests unless actively involved in another emergency situation.LRespond/attend all high-risk deliveries.MDocuments patient care efficiently and effectively, preparing a written evaluation and placing it in the nursing unit chart promptly.NProvides proper cleaning and sterilization of all respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe patient care.OProvides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by patient.PRecords the appropriate charges for services rendered and submit the correct records/documents to the appropriate departments.QParticipates in rotation of stand-by call and responds according to department policies and procedures.RUtilizes techniques of infection control, including proper hand washing and observing standard precautions.SMaintains professional relationship and an open line of communication within the unit and with other departments, staff, physicians and other support personnel, providing support and assistance to ensure quality patient care.TDemonstrates clinical competency in assigned area of responsibility.UParticipates in stocking, sorting, or inventory of departmental supplies to ensure appropriate items are readily available for patient care needs.VSupports the department by attending, and constructively contributing to staff or other meetings as necessary.WMaintains a clean, organized and safe working environment in both patient care areas and the department area.XDemonstrates appropriate judgment in notifying/communicating with physicians.YDemonstrates technical competency through annual equipment certification, attending manufacturers’ sponsored in-services, and additional training as required.ZMaintains knowledge of regulatory standards as applied to area of responsibility.AACommunicates clearly and tactfully with patients, their families and other staff members.BBAdvises the department director and/or lead of activities, needs, problems and unusual events.CCActively participates in the review of policies and procedures for the Respiratory department on an annual basis.DDUses time constructively and organizes assignments for maximum productivity.EEIs resourceful and calm in emergencies.FFMaintains confidentiality of all patient/resident/staff information.GGPerforms other related duties as requested or assigned.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM EDUCATION:High school diploma or equivalentSatisfactory completion of an A.S. program from a nationally accredited respiratory therapy school.Successfully passed NBRC exam receiving credential as CRT or RRT.PREFERRED EDUCATION:MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:Current Nevada license as a Practitioner of Respiratory CareCurrent Nevada license as a Blood Gas TechnologistCurrent BLS certificationCurrent ACLS certificationCurrent NRP certificationPREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:SPECIAL SKILLS:SUPERVISES:PHYSICIAL DEMANDS: For physical demands and working conditions, see next page. #J-18808-Ljbffr
