High-Volume Manufacturing Operations Manager

Picture your morning: you walk the production floor of a 400,000+ sq. ft. facility, greet supervisors across multiple shifts, scan OEE dashboards, and jump in where bottlenecks threaten output. You partner with Maintenance to clear an equipment constraint, align with Planning on the day’s schedule, and coach a team lead through a staffing shuffle. By afternoon, you’re with the Plant Manager discussing KPIs, CI roadmaps, and what it will take to be ready to run the site yourself.

What You’ll Do

Start by learning the operation, building relationships, and earning trust across a large hourly workforce in a multi-shift environment. Then expand ownership to:

• Deliver daily production performance and drive flawless execution to schedule
• Lead supervisors and hourly teams; mentor, coach, and hold teams accountable
• Own production scheduling and labor planning with Planning and HR
• Manage core manufacturing metrics: OEE, utilization, downtime, output, and related KPIs
• Champion continuous improvement and process optimization
• Advance automation and modernization projects
• Plan headcount and workforce to match demand
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Planning, and HR
• Reduce manual work through smarter processes and systems
• Contribute insights that shape broader operational and business decisions

The end goal: become a leader who knows not just how the plant runs, but why the business makes the choices it does—so you’re prepared to make those decisions yourself.

What You Bring

• 10–15+ years in manufacturing/operations
• 5+ years of progressive leadership
• Bilingual Spanish/English communication
• Hands-on leadership style with strong floor presence
• Depth in production scheduling, MRP, OEE, labor utilization, headcount planning, and KPI management
• High emotional intelligence; able to build trust at all levels
• Thrives in fast-paced, high-volume settings
• Willing to occasionally overlap with other shifts to broaden exposure

Preferred Background

• High-speed manufacturing, CPG, food, food packaging, or similar
• Large-scale, multi-shift operations
• Experience with high headcount and/or union environments
• Bachelor’s in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or related
• Analytical strength and business acumen beyond day-to-day production

Nice to Have

• Lean or Six Sigma certification
• APICS or related operations/supply chain credential
• MBA or advanced degree
• Multi-site manufacturing exposure

Culture & Pace

This is a hands-on, high-accountability environment. Leaders are visible, the bar rises continuously, and credibility is earned in the operation alongside the team. During peak season the tempo accelerates, additional floor time is expected (including some Saturdays), and there is a PTO blackout window from 9/1 to 12/1. Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Black Friday remain paid holidays.
