Family Physician (California)

Overview

Interlake‑Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA) is located in central Manitoba and provides care across a 61,000 km² region. This position offers physicians the opportunity to practice in a broad, community‑focused setting.

Responsibilities

The physician will perform all duties associated with a busy family practice, including coordinating primary patient care, examining and advising patients, ordering diagnostic procedures, prescribing and administering medications and treatments, providing inpatient and outpatient care, 24‑hour ER coverage (up to 6 times per month), and Personal Care Home services. The physician will maintain full‑time clinic hours, be on site at least four days per week, participate in nurse‑managed care, and may take on leadership roles such as serving on the Community Health Committee and providing clinical supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum three years in a general practice environment with emergency and minor surgery experience. Must hold a medical degree and be eligible for immediate certification with the Medical Council of Canada, the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP), and the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba. Must also have or obtain CMPA or equivalent coverage and be eligible for immediate membership in the relevant professional bodies. Candidates should be willing to reside in the surrounding area.

Compensation

Fee‑for‑service income. Physicians may be compensated on a Contract or Fee‑for‑Service basis and remain self‑employed. No employee benefits are provided. The contract compensation follows the Rural, Brandon & Northern Independent Contractor GP Agreement, and the physician is expected to see approximately 20 patients per day.
