Through our value-driven, consumer-centric approach, we are committed to transforming healthcare and creating a better care experience for all.A Medical Coder, or Certified Professional Coder, is responsible for reviewing a patient's medical records after a visit and translating the information into codes that insurers use to process claims from patients. Their duties include confirming treatments with medical staff, identifying missing information and submitting forms to insurers for reimbursement.This is an ONSITE position. 9250 NW 36th St, Suite 420 Doral, FL 33178The main duty of a Medical Coder is assigning codes to medical procedures and diagnoses. Other duties and responsibilities of a Medical Coder include:Making sure that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulationsComplying with medical coding guidelines and policiesReceiving and reviewing patients' charts and documents for verification and accuracyFollowing up and clarifying any information that is not clear to other staff membersCollecting information made by the Physician from different sources to prepare monthly reportsImplementing strategic procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct resultsExamining any medical malpractice that has been reported by analyzing and identifying the medical procedures, diagnoses or events that lead to the negligenceRequirements and QualificationsHigh school degree or equivalentMedical Coding Certificate; RHIT or CPC by AAPC or AHIMA license; meet state licensure requirementsMaintain coding certification and attends in-service training as required1 year of medical coding experienceUnderstanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiologyAbility to work independently or as an active member of a teamStrong computer skills in data entry, coding, and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software; Microsoft Office SuiteAccurate and precise attention to detailAbility to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficientlyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsGoal-oriented, organized team playerAdditional responsibilities as assigned on a need basis.As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome and employ a diverse employee group committed to meeting the needs of NeueHealth, our consumers, and the communities we serve.
