We are an equal opportunity employer including veterans and people with disabilities.Essential FunctionsDemonstrates responsiveness to the organizational functions of the transport process.Demonstrates knowledge of ambulance operationsDemonstrates up-to-date knowledge of transport equipment location, function and restocking proceduresProvides safe driving of the ambulance according to the Standards of the US Department of Transportation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and EMS National StandardsSafely operates ambulances on emergent and non-emergent transportsUtilizes lights and sirens as per Children's Policy adhering to standard safety practicesMaintains response times within targeted benchmarks set by the programWorks in conjunction with Fleet Coordinator to ensure ambulances are functioning and serviced as scheduledComplies with ambulance, helicopter, and fixed wing operational safety in accordance with current guidelinesChecks, cleans, and stocks transport bags and equipment. Ensures equipment is in good working orderMaintains all transport equipment in a state of mission readiness by checking all equipment at the beginning of each shift, noting any discrepancies and ensuring steps toward resolutionCleans vehicles and equipment and restocks bags after a transportCompletes daily, weekly, monthly and ongoing equipment checklistsCompletes educational and professional development requirementsAssists with patient care within scope of practice including:Obtaining vital signs and assisting with assessments and treatments as necessaryPlacing patient on transport monitorsMoving and securing patient in transport cot/incubatorInitiates action to prevent current or potential risk to a patient in an emergency situationAdheres to individualized patient/family plan of care to meet identified needs. (Plan of Care includes current and anticipated actions focused on stabilization, care, and transport needs).Demonstrates age-specific competency within the EMT scope of practiceAssesses patient/family need for education and uses an individualized approach in delivery styleCommunicates changes to medical crewRegular attendance at work is an essential function of the jobPerform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements sectionAccepts assignments to share/teach knowledge and provide clinical support as a preceptor for new staff.Professionally support the assigned unit, as seen through interactions with patients, families, Children's Hospital and Transport staffAccepts and completes other assigned tasks in a professional mannerEducation QualificationsHigh School Diploma or G.E.D Required andCompletion of an EMT course RequiredExperience Qualifications1 year experience as an EMT PreferredSkills and AbilitiesMust be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from on task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skillsMust be able to work in an environment that is exposed to non-conventional motions, noise, vibration, fumes and extreme heat/cold.Licenses and CertificationsEMT - Emergency Medical Tech current and valid in the state of Nebraska Upon Hire Required orPARAMEDIC - Paramedic – Licensed current and valid in the state of Nebraska Upon Hire Required andNREMT - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (Med Tech) (if working in the Transport department only) Upon Hire Required orPARAMEDIC - Paramedic - National Registry (if working in Transport department only) Upon Hire Required andBasic Life Support from the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required andPediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization Certification (PEARS) within 180 Days Required andTransport only: Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) within 120 Days RequiredMust have valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record Upon Hire Required andChildren's is the very best for kids and the very best for your career!
