Candidates must have direct, hands-on experience working with GDOT or municipal owners on public infrastructure projects.

About Us

WilsonCM is a GDOT-prequalified heavy civil, roadway, and utility contractor based in Norcross, Georgia. We deliver public infrastructure projects for GDOT, counties, and municipalities across the state. Our crews self-perform grading, drainage, utility, and roadway work. We run a field-first operation where leadership is on site and decisions get made quickly.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced General Superintendent to lead our heavy civil construction projects, focused on roadway and infrastructure work. You’ll oversee field operations across multiple projects and make sure each job is built safely, on schedule, within budget, and to GDOT and owner quality standards. You’ll lead superintendents, foremen, and crews, coordinate schedules and resources across jobs, and enforce OSHA and company safety standards. This role directly shapes major transportation projects in the communities we serve.

Candidates must have direct, hands-on experience working with GDOT or municipal owners on public infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee field operations across multiple active roadway, drainage, and utility projects
• Lead, mentor, and hold accountable the superintendents, foremen, and field crews
• Plan and manage project schedules, three-week look-aheads, and crew and equipment allocation across jobs
• Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety programs, and lead safety meetings, inspections, and incident response
• Ensure work meets GDOT specifications, plans, and inspection requirements
• Serve as the primary field contact for GDOT and municipal inspectors, engineers, and owner representatives
• Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and utility owners
• Oversee traffic control and maintenance-of-traffic (MOT) plans and erosion and sediment control compliance
• Track production, labor, equipment, and material costs against budget, and flag variances early
• Review and approve daily reports, quantities, and field documentation
• Identify changed conditions and support the PM team with change order and extra-work documentation
• Coordinate utility locates (Georgia 811) and work around existing utilities to prevent damage
• Plan equipment needs with the shop and equipment manager, and support maintenance
• Drive project closeout, punch lists, and final acceptance

Qualifications

• Required: Direct experience as a superintendent on GDOT or municipal/county public-works projects, including working face-to-face with owner representatives, project engineers, and inspectors
• 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience, with at least 5 years as a superintendent on roadway or infrastructure projects
• Strong working knowledge of GDOT specifications, inspection processes, and public-works project delivery
• Hands-on experience with grading, storm drainage, curb and gutter, base, paving coordination, and underground utilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and crews at the same time
• Solid understanding of OSHA construction standards (OSHA 30 required or obtainable within 90 days)
• Ability to read and interpret plans, cross-sections, and specifications
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred Certifications

• GDOT Worksite Traffic Control Supervisor (WTCS)
• GSWCC Level IA / IB erosion and sediment control certification
• Experience with federally funded projects (Davis-Bacon, DBE requirements)
• First Aid / CPR
• Experience with GPS machine control and project management or scheduling software
