Summary: Join a dynamic team as an Emergency Department Access Representative, responsible for registering all patients in both adult and pediatric emergency departments. This role involves completing the registration process for emergency patients and managing direct admits sent to the emergency department. Additionally, the representative collects patient liabilities upon discharge.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Medical terminology proficiency is required within the first 90 days of employment. Preferred candidates have 1-2 years of insurance or clerical experience in a hospital or medical office setting, along with knowledge of insurance processes and payment collections. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and basic computer functions is essential. The role demands strong typing and data entry skills to meet productivity standards.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with demonstrated customer service abilities to interact effectively with diverse populations. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking skills are vital to handle the complexities and stresses of a busy emergency department environment. Flexibility to rotate shifts and days off may be required.

Physical and Operational Requirements: The position requires the ability to communicate clearly, see, and hear to collect information accurately. Dexterity to operate office equipment and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods are necessary. The work environment features low to moderate noise levels. Tasks include answering phone calls, extensive use of computers and business machines, filing records, and occasionally assisting with patient transport and baggage. Lifting requirements range from regularly moving up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Prior experience in insurance or clerical roles within healthcare settings is preferred.
