Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transmission R&R (Remove & Replace) Technician to join our service team. This role is responsible for the removal, installation, and basic troubleshooting of Allison automatic transmissions in medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. A well qualified candidate who succeeds also has the ability to advance their career in a higher skilled role such as Transmission Rebuilder.

Key Responsibilities

• Remove and reinstall Allison transmissions in trucks, buses, and other heavy equipment
• Perform pre- and post-installation inspections to ensure proper functionality
• Diagnose basic transmission-related issues and identify necessary repairs
• Follow manufacturer guidelines and shop procedures for all R&R operations
• Inspect related components (coolers, lines, mounts, wiring harnesses) during service
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Accurately document work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job
• Collaborate with senior technicians and service advisors as needed
• Ensure all safety protocols and shop standards are followed

Required Qualifications

• Experience in heavy-duty truck or diesel repair (prefered)
• Have your own tools ( sockets, ratchets, impacts, wrenches, etc)
• Ability to operate shop equipment such as transmission jacks and vehicle lifts
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift heavy components and work in physically demanding conditions
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Allison Transmission certification or factory training
• Experience with diagnostic tools and software
• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus

Work Environment

• Shop environment with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy equipment
