Design Engineer

Mechanical / Design Engineer (SolidWorks) | Walworth County, WI | Entry–Mid Level

A growing metal fabrication manufacturer in Walworth County is expanding its engineering team and looking for a Design Engineer who enjoys turning concepts into manufacturable products.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll see your designs go from screen to shop floor to finished product.

What You’ll Be Designing

• Production-ready parts using SolidWorks + DraftSight / AutoCAD
• Detailed fabrication prints for cutting, forming, machining, and welding
• Designs optimized for manufacturability (DFM mindset)
• Components used in commercial and transportation-related applications

Key Responsibilities

• Translate requirements into accurate 2D/3D drawings
• Develop and maintain clear, production-ready prints
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are buildable
• Revise designs based on real-world fabrication feedback
• Partner cross-functionally with production, purchasing, and engineering

✅ What They’re Looking For

Must-Have

• CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
• Understanding of metal behavior (forming, bending, stretching)
• Ability to create clear, manufacturable drawings

Preferred

• Exposure to fabrication environments (laser, press brake, machining, welding)
• Experience with design for manufacturability
• Background in transportation, fuel systems, or heavy equipment
